Ska-punk pioneers Sublime are set to release their first studio album in three decades. Titled 'Until The Sun Explodes', the record marks a significant milestone as the band's debut full-length featuring Jakob Nowell handling lead vocals.
The Long Beach outfit teased this project roughly twelve months ago, revealing they'd enlisted Travis Barker to help craft new material. That collaboration has now come to fruition with a confirmed release date.
Atlantic Records will distribute the album on June 12, with the 21-track collection boasting an impressive roster of guest contributors including Bad Brains' H.R., Pennywise guitarist Fletcher Dragge, blues-hip-hop artist G. Love, garage rockers FIDLAR, and Australian surf-punk trio Skegss.
The band has unveiled the album's title track alongside the announcement. The song carries profound personal weight, with Jakob delivering a heartfelt homage to his late father, original frontman Bradley Nowell, who passed away in 1996 when Jakob was merely an infant. The poignant lyric "Until the sun blows up in the sky/I owe you my life" encapsulates this emotional tribute.
The accompanying visual treatment takes viewers on a geographic journey through Long Beach, highlighting venues and landmarks integral to Sublime's legacy while emphasizing the band's deep roots in Southern California skateboarding subculture.

Jakob addressed the album's relationship to Sublime's catalog with careful reverence: "The last Sublime record that will ever be made is Self-Titled. There's no replacing history, period. 'Until the Sun Explodes' the album is an epilogue, and 'Until the Sun Explodes' the single is the epilogue to the epilogue. It is a tribute to the expansive works of Sublime, it is an acknowledgment for all that my father has done for me my entire life, and most importantly it is a thank you. I love you dad, and I owe you my life."
Original member Bud Gaugh reflected on the title track's significance: "This song is the title track of our new album and it expresses the gratitude we all feel as well as our intent for the future of our band and the music we love! Until the Sun Explodes is our reality. Thank you for enjoying life with us!"
Bassist Eric Wilson expressed enthusiasm for the project's timing: "I am really excited about the album that's coming out. I think it will set the tone for the summer of 2026!"
The band's international profile continues expanding, with Sublime scheduled to make their UK debut at Slam Dunk Festival. The event spans the late May Bank Holiday weekend across two venues: Temple Newsam Park in Leeds and Hatfield Park.
